SP BioDrill Ester
SP BioDrill Ester
SP BioDrill Ester is a purified, feedstock-flexible fatty acid methyl ester blend designed as a carrier fluid and developmental base-fluid component for non-aqueous drilling-fluid systems. The product can be tailored for viscosity, cold-flow behaviour, polarity and application requirements.
Principal applications
- Carrier fluid for oilfield additives and specialty chemicals
- Base-fluid component for ester-based synthetic drilling mud
- Invert-emulsion drilling-fluid development
- High-angle and directional drilling systems requiring improved lubricity
- Biodegradable spotting and free-pipe fluid development
- Blend component for reducing the mineral-oil content of selected fluid systems
Provisional specification based on formulation
Property | Provisional value | Release basis |
Appearance | Clear and bright, light amber liquid | Visual |
Density at 30°C | 0.87–0.91 g/mL | Batch COA |
Kinematic viscosity at 40°C | 3.5–7.0 cSt | Batch COA |
Acid value | Maximum 0.50 mg KOH/g | Batch COA |
Moisture | Maximum 500 ppm | Batch COA |
Flash point | Minimum 130°C | Batch COA |
Pour point | Maximum +5°C; target 0°C or below after optimization | Grade confirmation |
Ester content | Minimum 96.5 percent | Batch COA |
Copper-strip corrosion | Class 1 target | On request |
These values are ingredient-based provisional limits. The final guaranteed specification and test methods will be fixed after pilot-batch analysis, storage observation and customer application trials.
Formulation flexibility
The ester composition is selected according to the required cold-flow behaviour, viscosity, lubricity, storage stability and operating environment. Feedstock identity and blend ratios are controlled through internal batch records, while the commercial grade is supplied against an agreed performance specification.
Qualification and Testing
Every drilling-fluid application should be validated using the customer’s actual mud system and relevant operating conditions. Shri Parth Petrochem can supply controlled evaluation samples with COA, TDS and safety documentation for laboratory screening.
Test area | Recommended assessment |
Base-fluid quality | Density, viscosity, flash point, pour point, moisture, acid value and ester content |
Lubricity | Coefficient of friction and percentage reduction versus untreated base mud |
Mud rheology | Plastic viscosity, yield point, gel strength and flow profile |
Filtration | API or high-pressure high-temperature fluid loss as applicable |
Compatibility | Freshwater, brine, bentonite, polymers, salts and weighting materials |
Thermal performance | Hot rolling or ageing at the intended operating temperature |
Invert systems | Electrical stability, emulsion stability, oil-water ratio and sag behaviour |
Environmental profile | Biodegradability and toxicity testing when required by the project |
